At the beginning of the 20th century, however, the building and its background did not meet the growing requirements of quality of student accommodation and therefore the building of new Boromeum was built at the riverbank of Orlice.
In the years to come, the ground floor of the house was used by the post office of the Imperial-Royal Post, the upper floors served as offices and for housing purposes too. We may say that without due maintenance in the last 60 years, the house has survived only thanks to its original massive construction.
In 2004, the building, which had been in the property of Hradec Králové, was purchased by the company Špitálská. In the next 2 years, an extensive reconstruction of the non-residential premises on the ground floor and the residential premises on three floors was carried out. As soon as today, we may say that by building the residential house Boromeum, the object gets back not just its name but also the opportunity to use more than twenty modern-equipped apartments.
